The Story of Transformational Breath®

Dr. Judith Kravitz first experienced conscious breathing in the mid-seventies through the breathing practice known as Rebirthing. This type of breath therapy, or breathwork, was designed to release various traumas sustained by individuals during birth.

She was guided to combine conscious breathing with her healing practice as a counselling minister. As Judith began breathwork with her clients, she had insights to make it more effective, powerful and lasting. Over time enough changes were made in the form, consciousness, techniques and intention of her practice of breathwork that she named the new process Transformational Breath®.

“Through sharing this gift with so many people throughout the world, I have been shown that the breath is our most powerful yet simple tool for joyful healing and passionate living.”
From Judith Kravitz’s book ‘Breathe Deep Laugh Loudly’

Today, Transformational Breath® is taught and experienced as a powerful self-healing modality. This technique has expanded beyond Leonard Orr’s Rebirthing and Dr. Stanislav Grof’s Holotropic Breathwork.

Judith has integrated various principles from her doctoral studies in metaphysics, Kundalini Yoga, breath analysis, sound healing, body mapping plus other healing and spiritual principles into the Transformational Breath® trainings. Her vision was to train hundreds of people to take the work across the world and that vision is a reality with training programmes in the UK, Europe, Africa and the USA.

The founding body, Transformational Breath® Foundation, based in the USA continues to have strong links with ourselves and the many organisations emerging across the globe.

We now have a Transformational Breath® Foundation- UK, established in 2007, with an ever increasing Certified Facilitator membership. The Foundation offers facilitators a forum for continued development and also regulates the standards and training for UK based facilitators. There are regular self-development and facilitator training weekends, Levels 1 to 4, held throughout the UK.

In 2011, after a long and rigorous application procedure, Transformational Breath Foundation- UK was accepted as an affiliate member of Institute of Complementary and Natural Medicine. In the future all complementary therapies in the UK will be required to be regulated by such an organisation and we are proud to be one of the first breathwork therapies to affiliation status.

Breath Thought for the day

80% of our body's toxins are released through our respiratory system. So how come we choose to hold onto our toxins?
